Bloomsburg Falls at Home to West Chester

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped two games to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival West Chester University on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies lost game one 18-0 and game two 12-4.

In game one, the Golden Rams jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back. The Rams added at least one run in the remaining innings to tack on to their lead. On offense, the Huskies struggled to get anything going against West Chester pitcher Chris Powl who pitched a complete game and held Bloomsburg to just three hits on the day.

In game two, the Golden Rams put the Huskies in a big hole early on, scoring eight runs in the top of the first. The inning was highlighted by a bases clearing double by West Chester's Sean Bond. In the top of the second, the Golden Rams added three more runs to take an 11-0 lead. Bloomsburg was able to cut the lead to 11-3 in the bottom half the inning, however, when Vinny James (Philadelphia/ Bristol) hit a three-run home run to get the Huskies on the board. However, Bloomsburg could only manage one more run in the game and lost 12-4.

Bloomsburg drops to 5-22, 0-4 in the PSAC East, while West Chester improves to 17-10, 4-0 in the PSAC East. The Huskies next game will be Friday, April 7th at Mansfield University.
